The company name is made up of the first name of one of the original partners ‘Gordon’ and the last name of the other partner ‘Smith’.

Only the ‘Smith’ part of the partnership remains now; in the shape of John Smith assisted by his wife Linda Smith.

Gordon-Smith Guitars are handcrafted guitars made in the small town of Partington near Manchester, UK. Established for more than 25 years now, it is the longest running contemporary guitar company in England.

According to the USA produced magazine, Guitarmaker:
“Gordon-Smith Guitars are to England
as Gibson Guitars are to the USA”

Here’s a quote from the man himself, John Smith:
